The cheapest comfortable bed in Perissa and the reason a lot of people stay in the village rather than the caldera. The main road with the bakery, supermarket and the rental places is two minutes the other way, and the bus stop is on it. When to Book

July and August are peak. Book 2-3 months ahead for beachfront rooms, when the whole island fills up. Late spring and September bring better availability, lower prices, and warm sea for swimming.

Budget Guide

Hostels and simple studios are the cheapest, guesthouses and mid-range beach hotels sit in the middle, and the smartest suites cost the most, but every tier swings dramatically between the quiet shoulder months and peak July–August. Most properties take cards; confirm before arriving.

Location Matters

Perissa Beach puts you closest to the bars, tavernas and watersports; Perivolos is a little smarter and more spread out; and Agios Georgios, at the quiet south end, trades buzz for calm. All sit on the same long black-sand beach.

How expensive are hotels in Perissa?+

Perissa is one of the better-value bases on Santorini, noticeably cheaper than the caldera towns of Fira and Oia, where the cliff-edge suites command the island's highest prices. Beach studios, guesthouses and mid-range hotels here are reasonable in spring and autumn, though rates rise sharply in July and August like everywhere on the island.

Which places have the best sea views?+

On this side of the island the view is the beach and the open Aegean rather than the caldera. The front-row hotels and studios sit right on the black sand of Perissa and Perivolos. Ask for a sea-facing room, as outlook and price vary by floor and position along the beach.

Should I stay near the airport?+

No need. Santorini (Thira) Airport (JTR) is only about 14 km by road, over the hill near Kamari, so a short taxi or bus transfer reaches Perissa easily. There is no reason to base yourself out by the runway. Stay on the beach and treat the airport as the quick hop it is.

Is Perissa good for a longer or self-catering stay?+

Yes. Alongside hotels there are plenty of self-catering studios and apartments a short walk from the beach, and the quieter southern stretch toward Perivolos and Agios Georgios suits longer, calmer stays. For a week or more, a studio with a kitchenette gives you space and keeps costs down.

Do I need a car when staying in Perissa?+

Not to enjoy the beach. The strip is flat and walkable, and KTEL buses run to Fira and beyond. There are no trains or metro on Santorini, so for day trips to Oia, Akrotiri or the wineries an ATV or rental car gives you the most freedom; otherwise buses via Fira cover the main routes.
