How walkable is Perissa?+
Very. The village runs along a flat strip behind the black-sand beach, and almost everything on the map sits within an easy walk. You can stroll the length of the seafront from Perissa Beach south toward Perivolos and Agios Georgios, past the beach bars and tavernas, without ever needing a car. The only real climb is up Mesa Vouno to the ruins of Ancient Thera, which most visitors reach by taxi, quad or car.
Where is the centre of Perissa?+
Perissa centres on the beachfront, where the main street meets the sand near the big blue-domed Church of the Holy Cross. Most of the tavernas, bars and hotels plotted on this map cluster along the beach road and the lanes just behind it, with the great rock of Mesa Vouno rising at the northern end.
Does Perissa have a metro or trains?+
No. Santorini has no metro or railway anywhere on the island. Around Perissa you get about on foot along the beach, and to the rest of the island by KTEL bus (most routes run via the capital, Fira), by taxi, or on a rented car, scooter or quad.
How do I get from the airport to the map area?+
Santorini (Thira) Airport (JTR) sits beside Kamari, roughly 14 km by road from Perissa around the Mesa Vouno headland. A taxi or a pre-booked transfer is the simplest way in; some hotels arrange pickups, and KTEL buses connect the airport area to Perissa via Fira.
